Short Term Counseling
If
your initial intake assessment indicates that you would likely
benefit from short-term counseling within our agency, you
will meet with a counselor from one to five times to resolve
issues of importance to you. Students who benefit from short-term
individual counseling are often encouraged to consider participation
in group therapy, support groups, and/or seek other community
resources after completing individual work. While many students
complete individual short-term counseling at Counseling Services feeling that their concerns have been reasonably
resolved, others may have a sufficiently positive and productive
counseling experience that they wish to continue counseling
with another therapist in the community. Students interested
in addressing their concerns more fully, or at greater length
following the termination of short-term counseling should
request appropriate community referrals from their Counseling Services
counselor. Your counselor will work closely with you to identify
the most appropriate referrals given your circumstances,
personal resources, and individual needs
